A video about an orphan child and his sister who sell coconut slices to earn money for their family in the Pakistani city of Peshawar has gotten remarkable traffic on the Facebook page of RFE/RL’s Radio Mashaal, with nearly 170,000 views, almost 3,000 shares, and requests by several viewers for contact information so they could help the orphans.
Both children have since been admitted to a local private school after a donor asked the school’s principal to waive the tuition fee. That donor is now working on getting the children uniforms and books, so they can start attending school in the next few days. At least two other donors have come forward with financial contributions to help the family cope with basic living expenses.
