RFA’s investigative journalism spurs changes in Laos

Lao officials implemented the new policy and made changes as a direct result of RFA’s investigative journalism.

The officials suspended operations at a Chinese-run e-waste plant in Vientiane because of pollution concerns and imposed tougher regulations for banana plantations that poisoned water sources in Bokeo province. The government also launched an official investigation into illegal logging in Khammuan province.
