Alhurra’s “Al Youm” wins finalist certificate at New York Festivals

MBN’s flagship Alhurra Television program Al Youm received a Finalist Certificate in the Human Interest category, Documentary/Information programs, for the segment titled “Man Tries to Sell His Daughter.”

The report, by Al Youm correspondent Hashem Manaa, tells the story of an Khalid, an Egyptian man who tried to sell his daughters because he didn’t have enough money to feed them. The segment investigates the veracity of the father’s claim and the likelihood that it may be a plea for attention while exposing the reality that millions of Arab families are experiencing the same suffering, poverty, and lack of resources.
